Who is responsible

What this site does
DownVerdict checks whether websites are reachable. When you enter a domain, our servers send a request to that domain from several locations and show you the result.
Data we process
Server log: when you open a page, the web server processes your IP address, the time and the page requested in order to deliver the page and to keep the service secure. [State how long logs are kept.]
Abuse protection: your IP address is held in memory for up to an hour to limit the number of requests per visitor. It is not written to the database.
Domains you check: the domain, the time of the check and the technical result (status, response time, server address of the checked site) are stored. They are not linked to you.
Public information about checked sites: page title, description, server name, certificate details and the site icon of a checked website are read from that website and shown here.
Reports and comments
When you press "It's down for me too" or post a comment, we store the report or the comment (with the name you chose to give) and a keyed hash of your IP address. The hash cannot be turned back into your address and changes every day; it only stops the same visitor from reporting or commenting over and over. Reports are deleted after 30 days. Comments are public. Do not put personal data in them; ask us to remove a comment at [e-mail address].
Outage alerts by e-mail
If you ask for an alert, we store your e-mail address together with the website you chose. We send one message asking you to confirm; without confirmation the request is deleted after two days. After that we only write to you when that website goes down or comes back. Every message has a link that stops the alerts and deletes your address, and "Manage alerts" at the bottom of every page sends you those links again. Messages are sent through [name the mail provider].
Cookies and local storage
We set no tracking cookies. Your choice about advertising is stored in your browser's local storage. The administration area uses a session cookie for signed-in administrators only.
Advertising
Advertising is only loaded after you agree. It may come from third parties, who then receive your IP address and may set their own cookies. You can change your choice at any time under "Privacy settings" at the bottom of every page. [Name the advertising partners in use.]
