DNS lookup

What the records mean

A and AAAA records give the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses a name points to. A CNAME says the name is an alias of another one. MX records name the servers that accept mail for the domain, NS records the name servers that answer for it. TXT records carry free text, used among other things for SPF and for proving ownership of a domain.

Changes to DNS records take a while to reach every resolver, depending on how long the old answer may be kept. If a site works for some people and not for others right after a move, this is the usual reason.
